About Me

My photo
We, Jan & Doug, are officially gypsies now. We have sold our house, dock & cars. We have moved aboard Day Dreams and will follow the sun and warmth. No more northern winters for us. Doug retired from his wonderful job in April after working for the same great company for 35 years. We will keep you posted on our location so our friends & family can come find us along the way. We would love to see you, please visit often. June 1, 2014

October 4-7,2018 KK Rendezvous, Solomons, MD

Our good friends, David & Tricia invited us to stay on their boat, Lauryl Anne for the Kadey Krogen Annual Rendezvous. So we rented a car in Jacksonville, Fl and drove to Maryland. We arrived in time for the cocktail party. Many of our KK friends are here with their Yachts: Waterford, Sea Dweller, Gratitude and more. After dinner, I went to Renaissance Woman & listened to Ellen, Diane, Marianne & Ric play their Native American Flutes-very earthy & relaxing.

The next day, we attended seminars. I sat in on one about a recipe App, Paprika that a lot of the Kadey Ladies use. Then Doug & I listened to Steve Zimmerman share his travels on the Canadian Loop. After dinner, we listened to a jam session with The Siegels, David, Roberto and Diane playing guitars and we sang along-great fun!

The last night is always a big dinner & dancing to a great band-tonight didn't disappoint.  We sat with "our group", Lauryl Anne, Waterford and Sea Dweller-the group we love to travel with. We met some new family members who are lots of fun and of course we caught up with some friends we have met along the way in the last 5 years.

Sept 18-Oct 3, 2018 Back to Jacksonville, FL

Our drive going south from Ohio included an over nite in Sweetwater Tennessee.  We stopped at a KOA close to I-75 Exit 62.  It was a nice campground. I can remember the days when we would drive straight through from Ohio to Florida but not anymore because we are retired and we have time to take it easier.

We arrived at Lambs Yacht Center, Jacksonville, FL where Day Dreams spent the summer under cover and in the water.  Day Dreams looked great and was still floating proudly.  No big hurricane scares yet this season. Our dock neighbors, Karen & Terry were on board their yacht and welcomed us back.

We moved back into Day Dreams & got settled.  We drove to Cube Smart & reserved our spot under cover there to store Summer Dreams.  We didn't put the RV in storage yet because we need it to get around here for awhile & the Marina @ Ortega Landing lets us keep it in their parking lot.  We will be moving there at the end of the month. It is still very hot here, in the 90's.

We visited our niece Wendi, her husband Tadd & their daughter Samantha a few times for dinner out & grilling at their place. We caught up with some of our boating friends at Ortega: Larry & Lena on Hobo, Betty & Al on Plane to Sea & John on Sojourn.

We took our E-bikes to Zen Cog bike store in Riverside to have the software update & a light tune up completed.  They did a nice job.

We had the boat hauled out at Lamb's. We are having the Rudder seal replaced, the bottom sanded & painted. Doug is replacing the generator & engine flap. Lamb's do not allow us to stay on our boat while on the hard so we are staying in their apartment for $129/night. It is brand new & very nice: big master suite, living area, eat in kitchen & 1 1/2 baths. We stayed 3 nights & I was going stir crazy.  I biked to stores & we biked to Avondale to eat. Lamb's did a nice job on everything but we put the boat in too soon after painting where the straps went. We put the mast up while still at Lamb's.

On Sept 28, we moved on Day Dreams to The Marina @ Ortega Landings 41 B Dock, it's a tight fit and the finger pier is short so we have to crawl over the rail.

My photos app keeps crashing on my new MacBook Pro so I utilized Apple Support by phone.  They really didn't help but I figured out what it was: my photos were still loading from the transfer from my old MacPro. It is no longer an issue.
