Hammock Beach Yacht Harbor Resort in Palm Coast, Florida: couldn't have found a better place to stay for a whole month (and don't tell anyone: the cheapest dockage yet)! The folks here say this place has a magnet; I say it's like the Hotel California-"you can check in but you may never leave". We love it here & so do the rest of the boaters, who say they plan to leave but don't. The docks are clean, well maintained, concrete & floating. The facilities are big, clean & the showers are stocked with big white fluffy towels, soap, shampoo & conditioner. There is a laundry, workout room and a lounge with a big screen TV, cushy chairs, couches, tables & chairs inside. Out back facing the ICW, there is a beautiful big lanai with lots of well cushioned wicker furniture, tables & chairs. Down the steps to the pool & hot tub are towels, chaise lounges & beautiful landscaping. I do need to tell the whole story, because no place is perfect. In order to make this a perfect spot that we would never leave, they need to improve their wifi, install cable @ the docks & build a small restroom facility closer to the docks. I did get my exercise, which is important when you are on a boat. A walk to the shower/laundry was 1,000 steps round trip.

When we wanted more action, we would just call the town car to pick us up & take us about a mile to Hammock Beach Ocean side where there are 4 restaurants, 5 pools (one inside), a lazy river and a pool bar, 2 golf courses and a white sandy beach on the Atlantic. The workout room & locker rooms here are amazing, stocked with lemon water & even cucumbers for your eyes, to use when you are in the steam, inhalation rooms or sauna. I didn't try the Spa but I'm sure its fabulous.

We have made great friends here and hope to return next fall for awhile. Jill & Glen, boaters who we met in Staples (the store), toured us through Flagler Beach: a nice small unassuming beach town with great restaurants & views of the ocean. After the tour they treated us to a delicious dinner at their home-thank you Jill & Glen, hoping to see you again up north this summer. Gary & Joan, also new friends took us shopping & we even went to a movie! Boaters are the best!

We have taken advantage of staying in one spot for awhile and had Sunbrella chaps made for the dinghy and our most wonderful addition is a shiny, new refrigerator/freezer. We absolutely love it. The freezer is on the bottom & is a drawer, so when I pull something out nothing falls out with it. I could do without the stainless front-it shows fingerprints! Another sweet purchase is a small electric dehumidifier that works "like a charm" as my Dad used to say. It does tend to be a bit humid here in warm, sunny Florida and this little gadget takes that humidity out of the air inside the boat.

Doug has been busy waxing & redoing the teak. We have discovered it is an endless job, so just keep those supplies handy. There are many bike trails here, 125 miles of them to be exact. We have biked to the beach, the other resort, the grocery store, Starbuck's, Staples, Walmart, Lowe's, etc. All are an easy bike ride away. Another plus for this place. When Doug wasn't doing chores, visiting or exercising, he found time to work on a cool paper model of the Edmund Fitzgerald which was a very fun yet tedious task.
